ON Pain

Bear injured his knee ( bone injury) last week, and it improved a bit and then stopped improving.  I hope that it is just a naturally lull in the sequellae of the healing process and not indicative of that's as good as it's going to get.

I, this morning wrenched my back - I have no idea how,  I go to sit up and there goes my lower back   I could move, but with pain. Then I picked up Frodo to nurse him, and that  finished me off.

Bear took him and Galadriel and Arwen to mass.  I took a hot shower which allowed me the grace to move enough to settle myself down on the couch.

I will attempt to muster up enough courage to haul myself to the powder room and get some tylenol.  Hopefully that will help.

"Pain is in the Mind"
"Pain is weakness leaving the body"
"Pain is only a feeling, not a reality"

To all these bromides, only offered--it must be said--by people who are not in pain, are, in my opinion, dreck. Instead, I offer you the following bromide:

"Pain sucks!"

And, I offer you the following advice: A triple shot of Scotch, or other distilled spirit will help greatly.

Finally, I offer a Hail Mary for your healing!

I don't know about the spirit's after the tylenol, but I thank you for the Ave

My particular bromide re: pain is ( I add my caveat in bold indent,

"Pain let's you know you're still alive" though you wish you were dead

LOL! I have a fair amount of pain from old injuries, which have lead to arthritis in my hands, and bursitis in a shoulder, and aches in old broken bones. I have a break that never healed in my arm, and when it acts up it's awful. I take a tylenol, an asprin and an ibuprofen, along with two stiff drinks to get the muscles to un-knot. Works.

are you sure it's a wrenched back? If all you were doing was sitting up, you might have had a vertebrae go out of alignment and pinch a nerve. That can be really painful.

Tylenol and booze don't mix. Neither does ibuprofen and booze. The former can screw up you liver. The latter can screw up your stomach wall.

Scripture to keep in mind

Six things there are, which the Lord hateth, and the seventh his soul detesteth: [17] Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, [18] A heart that deviseth wicked plots, feet that are swift to run into mischief, [19]A deceitful witness that uttereth lies, and him that soweth discord among brethren. [20] My son, keep the commandments of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother. ***Cf:Douay-Rheims Proverbs 6: 16-20
